What is a float plan?
A float plan is a document that captures details about an intended voyage, including information pertaining to the vessel itself, the proposed itinerary, and the passengers.
Typically the float plan is given to a person who remains on shore. If the traveler is overdue, the holder of the float plan is in a position to notify the authorities and relay information critical to any search operation.
Who should prepare a float plan?
A float plan should be prepared by ANYONE venturing out into the water...

           • Taking the kayak out for a couple of hours?  Have a float plan ready.
           • Just jumping out to your favorite fishing hole for the afternoon?  Prepare a float plan.
           • Taking the "3 hour tour?"  Let someone know you're headed out -- have a float plan.
           • Testing that newly installed GPS and think you'll be back real quick?  File a float plan.
           • Going out on the water for any reason?  Prepare and file a float plan with us.
